VOlunteeR Application
THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN VOLUNTEERING WITH THE WHITMAN COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY!
We offer various volunteer opportunities to support our mission and ensure the well-being of our animals. Your help is crucial to the success of our shelter and the happiness of our animals.
General Volunteer Duties:
Volunteers assist with a range of tasks including cleaning and helping staff with animal care. Responsibilities include cleaning kennels, doing dishes and laundry, sweeping, mopping, and socializing with our cats and exotic animals.
Dog Walking and Enrichment:
Volunteers focus on the well-being of our dogs by taking them for morning walks and engaging them in fun and stimulating activities in the afternoons.
Volunteers may use various machines, tools, and other equipment. This includes cleaning and sanitizing tools such as non-hazardous and hazardous detergents and disinfectants, scrub brushes, hoses, brooms, and utility sinks. There is potential exposure to infectious and zoonotic diseases, as well as risks of injuries like animal bites and scratches. Training is provided, and procedures must always be followed to minimize these risks.
If you find the physical requirements challenging, please reach out to us to discuss alternative ways you can help through volunteering.
