Any revenue resulting from adoption or transfer of a Hope Fund animal shall be deposited to the Hope Fund bank account in order to defray veterinary expenses associated with the case.
Hope Fund animals from other shelters must be accompanied by transfer papers whenever available. Animals must be properly vaccinated with proof of current vaccinations prior to acceptance. Documentation will be maintained at the WCHS shelter in the animalís permanent record.
Adoptions of Hope Fund animals will be processed according to standard WCHS shelter adoption guidelines. The WCHS Shelter Manager is the designated adoption agent.
Hope Fund animals may at times be transferred to other legitimate and cooperating rescue organizations to optimize adoptability and eliminate fostering or sheltering burdens on WCHS.
Typical cost of Hope Fund surgical cases is between $500 - $700. Any expenditure in excess of this amount must be evaluated and approved by the selection committee on a case by case basis, pending availability of funds or potential to raise funds for the individual case.
All efforts will be made to provide the most economical care available while maintaining high and humane standards of care and rehabilitation potential. When necessary, bids will be obtained for certain surgical procedures.
The Hope Fund is an approved program of the Whitman County Humane Society Board of Directors. The above revisions to the guidelines were approved by the WCHS board in February 2008. Any and all changes to the Hope Fund guidelines require approval of the board of directors. Guidelines may be evaluated for revision as the need arises.
